MERRELL RAINBOW MOUNTAIN

A seriously playful shoe and sock, Merrell’s limited edition Antora and Nova collections draw their inspiration from the Rainbow Mountains of Peru and a vibrant illustration from Peruvian artist Ilustronauta, which is featured on the sock.

Wanting to capture the energy and aesthetic encapsulated in the collection, our long-time client, Supply + Demand, approached us to help create and produce the photography and video assets for the campaign launch. Working with the creative team at S+D, we established the overall look and feel for both aspects of the project.

The photography had a more crafted look with all but the smallest adjustments being captured in camera. For this, we used a variety of paint pouring techniques to create large scale canvases and mountain forms for a series of backdrops that added depth and movement to the imagery.

The video on the other hand had a more graphic feel, marrying well with Ilustronauta’s illustration and helping to tell the story of how the inspiration for this collection came to be. Here our CGI artist utilized both live action assets as well as digitally created motion assets to move the footwear forward through a changing environment. To wrap it all up, a custom sound bed was composed using elements of the local music scene to bring the campaign to life.
